Back Pain Treatment in Edmonton
Find the cause of your back pain — and fix it, not just numb it.
Back pain is the most common reason people come to see us — and for good reason. It gets in the way of work, sleep, lifting your kids, and everything in between. Most back pain is mechanical: a joint, disc, or muscle that isn’t moving the way it should.
The goal at our North Edmonton clinic isn’t to mask the pain for an afternoon. It’s to work out exactly what’s driving it and treat that directly, so you get lasting relief instead of a temporary fix.

Types of back pain we treat
What’s actually causing it
Most back pain isn’t from one dramatic injury — it builds up. Long hours at a desk, repetitive lifting, weak core muscles, or an old injury that never fully resolved all load the spine in ways it doesn’t like. Over time a joint stops moving properly, nearby muscles tighten to protect it, and pain sets in.
Because the cause is mechanical, the fix is mechanical too: restore the movement, release the guarding muscles, and rebuild the support around it.
How chiropractic and massage help
Dr. Fayad uses spinal adjustments — or gentle, low-force techniques like the Activator Method if you prefer — to restore movement to stiff, irritated joints. Our Registered Massage Therapists release the tight muscles that come along for the ride. Treating both together is what gets people better faster than either one alone.
You’ll also leave with a couple of simple things to do at home, because keeping the back moving well between visits is half the battle.
When back pain needs a doctor instead
Most back pain is safe to treat conservatively. But back pain with fever, unexplained weight loss, numbness in the groin, or loss of bladder or bowel control needs urgent medical care — go to a hospital. We always assess for these red flags before starting.
Frequently asked questions
How many visits will it take for my back pain?
It depends on how long you’ve had it and what’s causing it. Dr. Fayad gives you a realistic estimate at your first visit — many people feel meaningful relief within the first few sessions. We don’t sell long-term packages.
Do I need a doctor’s referral?
No. You can book directly, and most Alberta extended health plans cover chiropractic and massage with direct billing.
Should I use heat or ice for back pain?
For a fresh flare-up, ice in the first day or two can calm inflammation; after that, heat helps relax tight muscles. We’ll give you specific guidance for your situation.
